Podcast Episode 152 - How to jump off the anxiety rollercoaster part 3 - Practical tools for your toolbox to feel better quick

Read

What do you do when you’re stuck in an anxiety loop?

Do you hide, crawl in a corner, go into flight or fight?

Is anxiety holding you back from your dreams or stepping out and living a courageous life?

Do you have a plan for when the anxiety comes and rears its ugly head?

We’re continuing our series on how to jump off the anxiety rollercoaster. You know, that coaster that feels like one big loop. It’s the NOT FUN coaster. I’ll give you some practical tools and ways to release anxiety and feel better quickly.

Today is for you if…

  • If you’re tired of the constant drain anxiety creates in your life.

  • If you’re ready to learn keys to feel better…anytime.

  • If you need help creating a plan when anxiety shows up.

Today, I’m giving you a toolbox, a Batman utility belt, so you know what you’re going to do when the anxiety comes.

I’m breaking down the areas into physical, mental/emotional and spiritual. It covers the whole person because we are spirit, soul and body.

Physical Releases:

  • Walking, dancing, stretching, yoga, etc. – exercise helps us release the anxiety.

  • Practicing good sleep habits to ensure adequate rest and reduce stress.

  • Take a nap.

  • Finding healthy outlets for stress, such as art, music, or hobbies. I love a good 30-second dance party to let it all go!

  • Getting sunlight exposure or taking vitamin D supplements.

  • Sounds and smells that relax you.

Mental/Emotional Releases:

  • Practicing mindfulness and deep breathing exercises to focus on the present moment and calm the mind - I talked about deep breathing in episode 152.

  • Talking to a therapist or counselor to work through underlying issues and develop coping strategies. This helps you get to the root of the real reason you’re anxious!

  • Keeping a journal to process thoughts, feelings and actions.

  • Phone a friend - my friends and I also use the Marco Polo app to share back and forth and process through anxious moments.

  • Read a good fiction book that you can lose yourself in the story.

Spiritual Releases:

These spiritual practices will help you rest in Father’s presence, knowing He loves you and has you in his hands.

  • Meditation - guided or not. Jackie Trottmann is my favorite for Christian-guided meditations. Click here to get her meditations. https://joyandflowstore.com/collections/meditations

  • Prayer - enjoy Father like you’re sitting down with a friend having a cup of coffee and a piece of pie.

  • Sit in silence - let the sounds of the world drop away.

You can also use the scripture, “Be still and know that I am God,” as sit-in-silence practice. I shared how in podcast episode 97. Click here to check it out.

It’s important to remember that everyone’s experience with anxiety is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. Experimenting with different strategies to find what works best for you might be helpful.

Remember, when we’re in anxiety, that’s not God’s best for us.

Nehemiah 8:10b

The joy of the Lord is your strength.

We need to do our part by using these tools in our toolbox, and then Father does what only He can do.

You’ve got this, and Father’s got you!

Thanks a Bunch for listening!
