095 - How to put more fun in your day and enjoy where you’re at on the way to where you’re going

Have you ever been so busy getting things done that you forgot to have fun?

Do you feel like you’re just going through the motions in life?

Or, is your life a never-ending to-do list?

Today we’re talking about putting more fun into our day!

  • So today is for you if you can’t remember the last time you truly had fun.

  • I’m talking to you, too, if you want to feel alive instead of going through the motions.

  • And if you desire more connection with others, today is also your day, my friend.

Did you know that fun is not only good for us, but it also allows us to let go of our inner critic while we’re engaging in fun?

Real fun consists of three elements:

1. Playfulness

Playfulness is a quality of lightheartedness that allows us to enjoy life for the pleasure of it.

2. Connection

Connection is about special shared experiences. Not only do we have fun in those moments, but we also create memories that bond us together with others.

3. Flow

When we’re in flow, we’re engaged and focused. We even lose track of time in flow.

Now, having fun is an active flow. It’s not that junky flow we get when we’re endlessly scrolling social media or binging the latest series on Netflix.

We need all three–Playfulness, Connection and Flow–to experience real fun where we can authentically be ourselves and feel alive.

So how do we experience more fun?

1. Discover your definition of fun

We all have different definitions of fun.

I love Disney World, dance parties and movie quotes with my husband. What’s fun for you?

Think of three times when you had real fun, where you were playful, connected and in a flow.

  • What were you doing?

  • Who were you with?

  • What made that experience so fun?

Use this to guide you so you can add more fun to your life.

2. Put fun on your calendar

We must make fun a priority, or life will flow by, and we’ll miss it.

3. Find fun in everyday life

Can you call a friend instead of texting?

Maybe you can learn a new hobby? Better yet, learn a new hobby with your family or friends!

There are moments in life we can have fun by being playful, connected and in the flow if we look for it!

Fun also had the added benefit of helping us manage stress better, produces more energy and enjoy life on the way to where we’re going.
