Identity–it’s who we are.

Some of us see ourselves through a cloudy lens. We struggle to believe our true value, our true identity.

This keeps us from being able to fulfill our true purpose.

Over the last few posts, I’ve been sharing with you, who we are–our true identity.

  1. I Am A Princess - because we’re children of the King of kings.

  2. I Am Powerful - Because we have the power to renovate our minds to the truth.

Do you know who else you are?

You Are Priceless.

Let’s say that together: I Am Priceless

The value of something is determined by what someone is willing to pay for it.

Let’s talk about Eve for a moment.

After the incident with the fruit, she was now under a curse that God never meant for her to be under.

But, He didn’t leave her (or us) there. He had a plan.

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.

God announces Jesus was coming!

Jesus came! And, He bought us back and crush the head of the enemy! He triumphed over the enemy by the cross!

Why would our Heavenly Father have a plan when we’re the ones that messed it up in the first place? Why would Jesus go through all that He did–suffering like no one else when it was our mistake?

Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

We are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus.

Let’s read this scripture in another version.

Ephesians 2:10 AMP

For we are His workmanship [His own masterwork, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].

I love the way the amplified expounds on workmanship–His masterwork, a work of art.

When you think of someone’s masterwork or masterpiece you may think of the Mona Lisa, the Sistine Chapel, or Michaelangelo’s David.

A masterpiece is defined as an artist's greatest piece of work. Masterpieces are priceless: having a value beyond all price

We are God’s work of art!!

We are God's masterpiece!!

We are PRICELESS!!

Remember that we defined VALUE as what someone is willing to pay for it. Our Heavenly Father gave up His son Jesus to redeem us–buy us back. Jesus willingly laid down His life for us.

John 15:13 - 15 NKJV

13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

If we don’t believe our true value, we’ll never walk in the fullness of who God designed us to be. We’ll sell ourselves short.

For many of us, it may have been difficult to believe what those scriptures say about us. Me too. And, to this day, I continually renew my mind to what my Heavenly Father says about me.

Who Are You Statement:

  • I want you to get a 3x5 card.

  • Take a moment and write out in your own words a statement describing Who You Are - The truth about your true value.

  • You can use scripture to get you started.

  • You could even use the statement you are a Priceless, Powerful, Princess of the Most High God just like we’ve talked about.

  • Keep this somewhere you can look at it several times a day. Remind yourself regularly your true value This will help to get it in your mind and your heart.

I want to end our time together with this story:

In Thailand, in the 1950s a group of monks was moving a giant clay statue from one location to another. They found that it was cracked and noticed a glimmer underneath the crack. As they chiseled off the layers of clay, they revealed a solid golden statue underneath that was worth 197 million dollars! It was hidden beneath layers of clay for decades. No one could see its true value.

You might say as I did, “you are broken”. But, in reality, we’re like the golden statue covered in layers of clay.

Through the years, layers of crude have developed from fear, challenges, rejection, hurts, and wrong thinking.

But, our true self is more valuable than we think. God said He knit us together in our mother’s womb. He said we are fearfully and wonderfully made. He said, “we're new creations in Christ.” We’re the “righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” We’re so valuable that Jesus gave His own life for us! Not because God needed another servant, but because He loves us and wants a relationship with us.

As we purposefully chisel away the layers of crude, through renewing our minds to the truth, believing the correct story about ourselves, our real self is revealed and we can see our true value and fulfill our God-given purpose.

Discussion

Would you please share your statement about of truth about yourself? I know I’m encouraged when I hear people’s beautiful responses. Our Father loves hearing you acknowledge your true self too!

This is the statement I use to remind myself who I really am: I am a graceful, loving, confident, clever, joyful woman of God; therefore, I am a leader who believes in the potential of others, helping them uncover who they are created to be.
